    Dr. Bhavani R. Hamann is a Mental Health Clinician in the State of Virginia. Dr. Hamann is trained in Marriage and Family Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Medical and Psychiatric Social Work and Motivational Interviewing. She provides therapy to couples and families at Marriage Healing Center, LLC using the principles and strategies of the Gottman Method and a family systems approach.

    Dr. Hamann has a Ph.D. in Social Work from Florida State University, a Master’s degree in Psychiatric Social Work from the National Institute of Mental Health and Neurosciences, and a Master’s degree in Medical and Psychiatric Social Work and Undergraduate in Business from Bangalore University, India.

    She has worked in medical, psychiatric, government and private agencies, serving individuals, groups, families, adolescents, and children. Dr. Hamann has experience offering therapy to families in conflict, relationship issues and those with members who have substance abuse difficulties, end stage medical conditions, and metal health disorders. She has experience working with couples and families from different cultures, LGBTQ, and people from various income levels. She is conversant in Tamil, Hindi, Marathi, and Kannada.

  • KENT JENSEN, MSW, SOCIAL WORK SUPERVISEE

    Kent Jensen is a Social Work Supervisee who obtained his master’s degree in social work from the University of Oklahoma. Additionally, he completed a master’s degree in public administration also from the University of Oklahoma and is a graduate of an intensive one-year international studies program from the Japanese National Institute for Defense Studies. Mr. Jensen received his bachelor’s degree from Utah State University in fine arts.

    At the Marriage Healing Center, Mr. Jensen works with couples seeking to heal or strengthen their relationships utilizing proven evidence-based practices. Mr. Jensen is trained in couples therapy utilizing the Gottman Method. His focus in couples therapy is on improving or reviving friendship, conflict management, and the creation of shared meaning. Mr. Jensen has experience working with individuals and couples from different cultures. Mr. Jensen is also able to provide Christian based couples coaching drawing on scriptural teachings and evidence-based practices.

    As an Army veteran from a multi-generational military family, Mr. Jensen understands the stresses that government service can place on couples and families. This makes him uniquely positioned to tailor interventions to support couples dealing with adjustment stress, PTSD, substance use, and relationship conflict. Mr. Jensen uses his life experience and unconditional positive regard to help him build rapport and gain an understanding of his client’s struggles, adversities, and hopes for the future.

  • CAROLE THOMAS, MSW, SOCIAL WORK SUPERVISEE

    Carole Thomas is a Social Work Supervisee who obtained her Master’s degree in Social Work with a clinical focus from Virginia Commonwealth University, a Master’s degree in Business Administration from George Washington University, and an undergraduate degree in Finance from Virginia Tech University. Ms. Thomas is also a certified integrative wellness coach.

    Prior to joining the Life Enrichment Counseling Center, Ms. Thomas provided clinical services in different therapeutic settings, working with individuals and couples using strengths-based and holistic perspectives. She has also served the community by volunteering extensively with various non-profit organizations to serve the mental and physical health needs of its members.

    At the Marriage Healing Center, LLC Ms. Thomas specializes in working with couples, at all stages of their relationships, experiencing conflict or wanting to strengthen their relationships. When working with couples, Ms. Thomas draws on her Gottman Principles I, II, and Seven Principles training and aspects of Imago Therapy, to help them strengthen their relationships in three primary areas: friendship, conflict management, and creation of shared meaning.
