  • Cassie Herring, MFT, Resident in Marriage and Family Therapy

    (Gainesville, Online Therapy)

    Cassie Herring is a Resident Marriage and Family Therapist. She earned a Master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from Northwestern University and an undergraduate degree in English from Hampton University. She is currently earning a Post-Master’s Certificate in Trauma-Informed Clinical Practice from New York University.

    Cassie has experience working with couples navigating infidelity, infertility, sex and intimacy issues, grief and loss, communication issues, parenting challenges, and cultural/racial differences. Cassie views each couple as the expert on their relationship and begins therapy with a four-session assessment to gain a comprehensive understanding of who they are and how she can tailor therapy to their unique dynamic. Most importantly, she works to identify the innate strengths they already possess that can be the basis for change. Cassie uses Emotionally Focused Couple Therapy to illuminate and repair patterns of disconnection and conflict, helping couples experience a new version of their relationship that is rich with empathy, emotional attunement, and secure attachment. Cassie’s work is also informed by The Gottman Method techniques and Prepare/Enrich Certification which she employs to help dating, engaged, and premarital couples build strong foundations and foster long-term relationship success.

  • KENT JENSEN, LCSW, MSW, MPA

    (Alexandria, Gainesville, Online Therapy)

    Kent Jensen is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) who specializes in helping couples strengthen, repair, and deepen their relationships. He earned master’s degrees in Social Work and Public Administration from the University of Oklahoma and completed an intensive international studies program through the Japanese National Institute for Defense Studies in partnership with Tokyo University. He also holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Utah State University.

    At the Marriage Healing Center, Kent works with couples seeking to improve communication, rebuild trust, resolve conflict, strengthen emotional connection, and create more satisfying relationships. He is trained in the Gottman Method and utilizes evidence-based approaches to help couples revive friendship, improve conflict management, and build shared meaning and purpose within their relationship.

    Kent has particular expertise working with couples affected by Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD). He helps partners understand how ADHD can influence communication, emotional regulation, household responsibilities, intimacy, and relationship satisfaction. By increasing understanding and developing practical strategies, couples can move from frustration and misunderstanding toward greater connection and teamwork.

    Kent has extensive experience working with individuals and couples from diverse cultural, ethnic, and religious backgrounds. He is fluent in Japanese and conversational in Mandarin Chinese. He also offers Christian-informed counseling for couples who wish to incorporate faith and gospel-centered principles into their relationship work.

    As a U.S. Army veteran from a multi-generational military family, Kent understands the unique challenges military service, government careers, frequent transitions, deployments, trauma, and high-stress professions can place on relationships. He strives to create a warm, respectful, and collaborative environment where couples can better understand one another, heal old wounds, and build stronger relationships for the future.

  • Shevy Kana, MA, LPC

    (Gainesville, Online Therapy)

    Dr. Shevy Kana is a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor in the States of Virginia and Nebraska. She provides therapy to adults and adolescents, at Life Enrichment Counseling Center.

    Dr. Kana received her Doctor of Education: Community Care and Counseling; marriage and family from Liberty University. She received her Master of Arts in Counseling from Grace University in Omaha, Nebraska. Dr. Kana has an undergraduate degree in Theology, majoring in Education, from Singapore Bible College. She also has a diploma in Human Resources Management and has over 10 years of Management experience in Human Resources. Dr. Kana has worked in private and non-profit agencies and takes a holistic approach to providing therapy. She utilizes a wide range of researched based tools, often working with relationship approaches, cognitive behavior therapy (CBT), mindfulness, solution focused, play therapy and dialectical behavior therapy (DBT).

    Shevy’s areas of experience include working with individuals with anxiety related disorders, depression, Bipolar, PTSD, stress, sex and love addiction, grief, anger management, life changes, and challenges with work and career goals. In addition, Dr. Kana works through the Marriage Healing Center, LLC with couples that are in conflict, struggling with communication, infidelity, or porn addiction of a spouse. She is trained in Gottman level 1 & 2 marriage counseling methods and is certified in Prepare/Enrich. She is also certified as a porn addiction counselor. Dr. Kana offers Christian Counseling with sound, biblically based values if requested. 

     

  • Dr. Courtney Shaughnessy, PsyD., MA, LPC

    (Gainesville, Online Therapy)

    Dr. Shaughnessy completed her Masters and PsyD for Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Rivier University in Nashua, NH as well as two bachelor degrees in Social Work and Psychology at Curry College in Boston, MA. She has experience with individuals, couples, adolescents, and groups. As a marriage counselor, Dr. Shaughnessy aims to develop a shared value system between both partners.

    Dr. Shaughnessy is certified in trauma and the Gottman Method for couples. She also employs different counseling methods depending on the needs of her clients. She has experience with infidelity, adjustment/transition issues, family conflicts, recognizing expectations, LGBTQ, as well as depression, anxiety, OCD, and ADHD. Dr. Shaughnessy is also trained in several evidence-based treatments including Cognitive behavioral therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Solution-Focused short-term therapy, and psychodynamic therapy.

    Dr. Shaughnessy aims to provide and break down wants, needs, understanding, acceptance, and trust in relationships. Dr. Shaughnessy has been recognized through the Society for Brain Mapping for her clinical work recognizing motivational behavior. At Marriage Healing Center, LLC Dr. Shaughnessy will serve couples using the Gottman Method and other treatment modalities as needed.

  • Kenni Walker, LPC

    (Gainesville, Online Therapy)

    Kenni Walker, LPC, is a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Virginia. She received her master’s degree in Counseling from Capella University in 2014. She also holds a Master’s in Business Administration.

    Kenni started working with couples during her clinicals. Kenni has spent a large part of her 19-year career in human services helping parties resolve conflict by helping to increase effective communication between them. She utilizes a combination of couples therapy techniques to include Gottman , psychodynamic, and positive psychology with an overall goal of supporting couples in enhancing their intimacy and experiencing more depth and understanding in the main relationship artery of communication.

    Kenni has worked in private practice as well as inpatient mental health facilities. Kenni specializes in helping couples exercise mutual support by learning about each other in new ways and by appreciating each other’s perspective. Kenni believes that there are irrationalities and rationalities that coexist and that by separating the two, an individual can experience more authenticity and truthfulness in their relationships.

    Kenni has worked with couples in all stages to include, premarital, phase of life, pre/post separation, divorced-coparenting, as well as parental alienation.
